MLS Toolbox 2.0®
Model, design and test wind turbine control systems

Build wind turbines control systems more efficiently with one of the industry's leading design and modelling software tools.  The MLS Toolbox is ideal for engineers and control technicians.

MLS Toolbox 2.0 includes a new Controller Module with accessible wind turbine controllers that facilitate wind turbine control design.

The new Automatic Report Generation Module creates documents with all required analysis for certification standards. Reports can be configured to accommodate specific requirements or temporary reporting needs. 

The MLS Toolbox allows engineers to model wind turbines and design wind turbine control systems more quickly and eases controller evaluation and post-processing tasks.  

Validated models are included to reliably predict structural requirements, the Control Designer tool speeds up controller design by allowing multiple input and output analysis, and improved Post-Processing Tools analyse all important performance measurements of the controller.

MLS Toolbox 2.0 – Basic Version

The  Toolbox 2.0 includes all the performance enhancement software contained in the previous version.

 Toolbox 2.0 includes several improvements to both functionality and performance:

  • Different Wind Turbine models and controllers can be loaded on the Control Designer at the same time to allow analytical comparisons
  • The MLS Control Designer allows dynamic placement and movement of poles and zeros on the controller without the need of the SISOtool
  • Models load more efficiently reducing calculation times.
  • Improved save/load project functionalities, backward compatible with earlier versions.

Toolbox 2.0 comes with 1 year free support and remote maintenance.


Optional modules- 

Optional software can be added on to the MLS Toolbox 2.0.  This modular design lets you select all the features that you need – no more, no less. Whether you want a non-tuned controller to run power production cases or a controller tuned to your specific wind turbine, you can install the modules to match your needs. 

Controller Module Package

Simulink Controller (included)

This module incorporates a Wind Turbine Controller implemented in Simulink in continuous time. Once tuned by the customer, this controller can run the wind turbine model included in the Toolbox and a Bladed model through the MLS Gateway for power production cases. 

Supervisory control dll (add-on)
The Simulink controller is augmented with a basic supervisory control sufficient to run all load calculation cases specified by the standards:
  • Normal stop
  • Emergency stop
  • Start up
  • Faults:
    • Overspeed
    • Overpower
    • Pitch fault
    • Yaw runaway
    • Grid loss
The supervisory control is fully parameterisable to adapt to different turbine characteristics.
 
Simulink controller pseudocode (add-on)
The Simulink controller is implemented in continuous time. The discretisation step is resolved in the pseudo-code for implementation into any programming language.
 
C code (add-on)
This is the C code from which a dll to be run in Bladed or Flex can be created. Ideal for repeated load calculations. The controller in the C code is the same as in the Simulink block diagram so that parameterization is the same in both cases, being the C implementation a discrete version of the Simulink controller.
 

Automatic Report Generator Module
Create a word report document with tabulated input data, profile graphics, and a display of simulation results using the MLS Automatic Report Generator.The ARG generates documentation containing all information necessary for certification and updates document content with each simulation change.
 
Customized Report Generator option (add-on)
Submit your document template to MLS to generate automatic reports that match your exact layout and design requirements.
